Acrylic sheets have special mechanical properties which are resistant against temperature variation, rain, hail. In comparison with glass they have less humid absorption and resistance over thermal shock. If they break or collapse no injures would happen.

High resistance over ultra-violate ray while having anti UV material with excellent transparency have made acrylic sheet as good replacement for glass. Transparency in acrylic sheet is 92% but glass has 90%.
